Brewing up the fight against mold

On the outskirts of Helsingborg, we find Helsingborgs Brewery where the walls and ceilings once were covered with black mold. In addition to being both uncomfortable and having a bad smell, it also created a health risk that could potentially contaminate the beer.

Helsingborgs Brewery often had to stop their production for two to three days to remove the mold. Unfortunately, it came back after just a couple of weeks.

ACT.Global implemented Premium Purity™ at the brewery which meant that the surfaces were coated with ACT CleanCoat, and the ACT ECA System™ is now being used for all daily cleaning.

After the implementation of Premium Purity™, the mold and its bad smell have disappeared and the brewery has achieved a more eco-friendly profile.

‘Normally the walls would be full of black mold. But now it’s a lot easier to keep it nice and clean. We spend significantly less time on cleaning and many of the cleaning tasks that used to take an hour are accomplished in 20 minutes … it’s a nice feeling to work here again – and we have a newfound pride towards our brewery when we do the open tours.

Having resolved the mold issue, Peter Nilsson was keen to implement Premium Purity™ in the whole brewery.

Today, the brewery has coated all surfaces with ACT CleanCoat™.
